First snow in the Himachal mountains
The kids saw snow for the very first time. We built a lopsided snowman and drank far too much hot chocolate.

We’d promised the kids snow for two winters running. This was the year we finally delivered.
The drive up
Long, winding and absolutely beautiful. We broke the journey overnight in Mandi so nobody got carsick.

Tips if you're going with kids
- Rent snow suits and boots locally; don't buy them for a single trip.
- Plan for slow roads; build a rest day into any drive.
- Altitude can tire kids out, so keep the first day easy.
