South Goa, India
A slow week on the Goa coast
Sandcastles, sunset cricket and the best prawn curry we've ever had, on a quiet stretch of beach away from the crowds.
This is a sample trip. Replace it with one of your own. See the README for how.
We almost didn’t go. Two kids, a 12-hour train ride and the Christmas rush. But the moment we stepped onto the sand, every doubt washed away.
Getting there
We took the overnight train from Mumbai. The kids loved the upper berths far more than any hotel bed.
Days on the beach
Most days had the same rhythm: early swim, long breakfast, nap, then the beach again until sunset. Nobody complained once.
Favourite memoryWatching the kids chase crabs along the shoreline until the sun went down.
Tips if you're going with kids
- South Goa beaches are calmer and shallower, which is great with little ones.
- Book a stay with a kitchen; kids' meals get easy and cheap.
- Pack a beach tent; the midday sun is strong even in December.
