From Jispa we climbed towards Baralacha Pass, where it began to snow: our very first snowfall. Beyond Sarchu, Ladakh opened up, with Leh’s monasteries, Nubra’s dunes, the blues of Pangong, the dark skies of Hanle and the memorial at Rezang La.
